As you may be aware the City has been going through a process of determining what 6 parks need major enhancements/improvements. Several residents and officers of Carriage Hill have attending the various public gatherings and office City meetings. The last meeting attended was the Park and Recreation Board on 5/14/2019. This Board approved and revised some of the 6 park designs and voted on the maximum cost. The Commission ultimately will decide what and how much and when the Mileage Tax referendum will be put to the voters on a ballot. If you want to get your thoughts in before it is too late in favor or against, contact your city commissioners and/or attend the June 2019 City Commission meetings when they should be discussing. So far the current process has been brought to this point below from the public meetings: Six Parks and approximate costs: Secret Lake (~$3.5 mil, Wirz (~$5.2 mil), Sunnytown (~$2.3 mil), Lake Concord Art House (~$2.4 mil), Dew Drop Park (~$3.4 mil) and Wheel Park—North Winter Park Drive (~$6-8 mil) – If you want to see the probable plan go online for the May 14th Parks & Recreation Board agenda at Casselberry.org. Referendum amount probable? 20 years for the maximum of $25 million bond issuance with an estimated $58 to $75 per year property tax mileage increase depending on having homestead exemption. When to possible referendum date? It the city Commission approves it could be a special ballot after October 2019 or on the Presidential primary on March 17, 2020. Disclaimer: CHCA does not take a position on the probable ballot initiative but want to make sure Carriage Hill residents know what is happening with the City that will directly or indirectly effect us all. We may not have any parks in our neighborhood but many of us use these parks. CHCA Board will try to provide updates in future flyers.
